James Bond Quantum of Solace - Theatrical Trailer

‘Quantum’ of soda for Bond film

James Bond is known for liking his martinis. But now 007 also likes Coke.
The Coca-Cola Co. has inked a deal with Sony Pictures to roll out a worldwide promotion tied to “Quantum of Solace,” the 22nd installment of the Bond series set to unspool Nov. 14 in the U.S. and in the U.K. on Oct. 31.

It’s the first time that Coke has promoted a Bond film, and the Bond deal marks the first major movie tie-in for the soft drink giant since the first “Harry Potter” pic in 2001.

“Quantum of Solace” will be backed by several promotional partners — Ford Motor Co., Heineken, Bollinger, Smirnoff, Omega, Virgin Atlantic, Sony Ericsson and Sony Electronics — that have pushed the British spy’s outings in the past and will pony up nearly $100 million in marketing support to push the pic around the world.

Coca-Cola will spend tens of millions of dollars on its own around the pic to hype its Coke Zero product, launching the biggest campaign for the brand since its introduction three years ago.

In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greenes sinister plan and stop Quantum getting its way.

Jack White Praises Alicia Keys’s ‘Electric Energy’ On ‘Quantum Of Solace’ Theme

As we reported last month, White Stripes frontman Jack White has joined forces with singing sensation Alicia Keys to bring to life the theme song for the upcoming Bond flick, “Quantum of Solace.” Titled “Another Way To Die,” the track will feature Keyes along with White, who pulls triple-duty as writer, producer and drummer on the collaboration that will mark the first duet in Bond history, according to the studio.

Now White is speaking out about the collaboration, stating: “After a couple of years of wanting to collaborate with Alicia Keys, it took James Bond himself to finally make it happen. Alicia put some electric energy into her breath that cemented itself into the magnetic tape. Very inspiring to watch. It gave me a new voice, and I wasn’t myself anymore. I drummed for her voice and she mimicked the guitar tones, then we joined our voices and screamed and moaned about these characters in the film and their isolation, having no one to trust, not even themselves. Maybe we became them for a few minutes.”

Latest James Bond Flick Bumped Back a Week

In what appears to be part of a most thorough campaign to botch Entertainment Weekly’s Fall Movie Preview, a recent press release wholly admits that the North American opening of the 22nd James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, back from November 7th to the 14th marks an effort to capitalize on last week’s sudden Harry Potter shift.

Although the removal of the 007th from any coming marketing blitz sure is a shame, it does place this film closer to the release of its predecessor, Casino Royale, which opened on November 17, 2006 to the tune of almost $600 million worldwide. Solace will still premiere in the United Kingdom on October 31.

Jack White & Alicia Keys Duet For James Bond’s Quantum of Solace

Forget all those Amy Winehouse rumours, the theme song for Quantum of Solace, the 22nd Bond film, will be sung by Alicia Keys and Jack White.

The song, called Another Way To Die, as the press release excitably informs us, will be the first duet in Bond history. The song is written and produced by White. Interestingly, he also played drums on the song, presumably leaving White Stripes bandmate Meg sitting at home carefully arranging her wardrobe into red and white.

Crackhead idiot Amy Winehouse won’t record track for new James Bond film

Amy Winehouse has abandoned recording the theme to the latest James Bond film because the singer is not ready to work, her producer said Friday.

Mark Ronson, who produced much of Winehouse’s Grammy-winning “Back to Black,” said the soul diva is “not ready to record any music.”

Ronson said the two started work on the track for the upcoming Bond movie “Quantum of Solace” but it would take “some miracle of science” to finish it, he said in an interview with Sky News.

New Bond Villain Goes Subprime

Gone are the days of James Bond villains with bleeding eyes or scars and fluffy cats — the fictional super-spy’s latest adversary has been given a contemporary twist for the subprime era.

Mathieu Amalric, who plays nefarious businessman Dominic Greene in the new Bond adventure ‘Quantum of Solace’, will have no physical villain traits and says his evil character’s anonymity makes him all the more real — and frightening.

“It’s so difficult to know who are the villains today. They look like wallpaper,” Amalric, one of Frances leading screen stars, said during an interview with Reuters on a remote desert mountainside in northern Chile that will serve in the movie as an eco-tourism hotel and his lair.

“Maybe they’re in banks, maybe they are the insurance companies, maybe they’re in labs, even in the subprime crisis,” he said.
